Dr Nessa Winston

Dr Nessa Winston graduated from UCD in 1988 with a BSocSc degree in Sociology and Social Policy. In 1990, she went to the University of Toronto to complete a PhD in Sociology. Over the years she has worked as a researcher on a range of projects including: single mothers; prejudice and tolerance in Ireland; European integration; the Irish in Britain; issues facing older migrants; a review of Irish Government Housing policy; the accommodation and housing of Travellers. She joined the School of Applied Social Science in 1995. Her research and teaching interests are: housing policy and practice; ethnicity and social policy; social policy and the environment; research methodology; and social policy evaluation.
