RESPONDING TO THE SOCIAL AND HOUSING NEEDS OF KILDARE
As it completes two new integrated housing developments in Kildare providing homes to almost 200 families, Respond! wishes to express its gratitude to retiring County Manager Niall Bradley with whom Respond! has worked in partnership for many years. That partnership has been successful for the delivery of integrated housing for the people of Kildare.
Fr Pat Cogan, Managing Director of Respond! said: “Niall Bradley’s retirement will be a huge loss to County Kildare and to organisations such as Respond!. It was a pleasure working with a Manager who sought real partnership for the advantage of people whom we all wish to serve.”
Both Respond! and Kildare County Council, under the Management of Niall Bradley, are investing large human and financial resources to meet the needs of Kildare citizens for the future. The emphasis is now on partnership and mixed tenure projects that will lead to social inclusion and equality for all. This is the core aim of Respond! whose objective is to build homes and communities, not just houses. Having a home means access to a place that is private, safe, secure and affordable and is linked to our sense of belonging in the community.
Fr Cogan added: “Respond! strives to establish integrated and sustainable communities. Our aim is to advance education, relieve poverty and foster a spirit of community development. This is clearly evident in our developments in Kildare where our estates will contain a mixture of affordable, social and local authority housing, along with a Community Building which will be the benefit of all.”
Respond!’s building development in Kildare will mean new integrated estates in Athy, Celbridge, Leixlip and Ballmakealy, along with existing estates in the county and will benefit more than 1000 people in the Kildare area. Collaboration with Kildare County Council will continue as Respond!, Ireland’s largest Housing Association, will develop a further 100 units of affordable and social housing over the next two years.
