Ballygrennan Close in Moyross, Limerick is a regeneration project designed by Respond Housing Association and completed in 1999. The estate was regenerated with the support of Limerick City Council and was kindly funded by the Department of the Environment, Community and Local Government. Ballygrennan Close contains 31 family homes, as well as 2 group homes, a community building and a Respond area office. In the community building a range of activities take place including computer classes, coffee mornings, seasonal parties, regular tidy town committee meetings etc. Last year the estate won a commendation for their entry in the National Tidy Towns Competition and will be entering again in 2012 as residents have been busy preparing plant boxes and hanging baskets. The community building also provides a childcare service on a daily basis to the local community. In addition, a Respond area office is located in the building where five staff are currently based.
Also located on this estate is Suaimhneas, a centre that provides emergency accommodation for homeless women with their children in a safe, welcoming, family centred and homely environment. Suaimhneas offers support, information and resources which respect individual needs and enable families to move progressively towards re-housing. The centre was opened in November 2002 and is managed by Respond Housing Association and kindly funded by the Health Service Executive (Mid Western Area) and Limerick City Council.
