Older Persons

Respond Housing Association aims to provide the highest quality housing for older people in sustainable thriving communities. We encourage an environment that is informed by a positive ageing ethos. We aim to facilitate independent living by enabling and empowering older residents to develop and maintain participation and activation within their families, communities and wider society. We seek to improve the lives of older people by:

  • Providing high quality, affordable housing in supportive communities for those in need, now and in the future
  • Targeting the needs of older residents and developing and maintaining the appropriate services to meet these needs
  • Developing special purpose projects issues, including day centres

Respond Housing Association believes in providing services for older persons in accordance with the  best practice as follows:

  • Independence
Independent living is actively encouraged and sustained by providing safe, secure and accessible built environments and by enabling and facilitating access to essential supports and services designed to improve the quality of life of the older person
  • Participation
We assist our older residents to remain integrated into society; participate actively in the development of policies and services provided for them and act as volunteers in their communities with younger generations
  • Care
We aim to provide a range of resident support services that specifically meet the needs of the older resident living independently
  • Self-fulfilment
Our older residents are enabled and empowered to achieve their full potential through the provision of activation, education, recreational and socialisation programmes
  • Dignity
Residents continue to live in dignity and security and be free of exploitation, abuse and all types of discrimination
