By supporting Respond you are helping to provide the funds we need to deliver vital services to people of all ages, all across Ireland.
As part of the Toy Show Appeal, we received funding to provide Welcome packs for newborn children. We provide essential items for both the parent and child (Clothing, Toiletries, cribs, etc.). It is common to lose possessions when experiencing homelessness and fleeing domestic violence, so we must equip pregnant people with essential items to help them care for themselves and their new babies.
We are delighted to announce that St Francis’s Gardens, Day Care for Older People has been awarded €10,000 from the LCDC Local Enhancement Programme 2025. This generous funding will go towards a bus for the service.
Thank you to the Local Community Development City in Cork City for their ongoing support.
The Smurfit Kappa Foundation supported us in introducing The Tovertafel and Able Tables to our 3 Day Care for Older People Services. Tovertafel (“magic table” in Dutch) is a games system that stimulates people living with cognitive challenges. By projecting interactive games and vibrant images onto the wheelchair accessible Able Table. Tovertafel engages players with games that respond to their movements. Scientific research suggests that they positively impact the quality of life of those with dementia.
In partnership with Children’s Books Ireland, we were awarded a grant of €12,850 by the ESB Energy for Generations Fund to provide starter libraries of brilliant new books to 134 children in our Family Homeless Services. The books were gifted in April, just before the schools broke up for the Easter holidays, and were warmly received by both children and parents.
“The books were a very good way for the kids to spend time reading instead of being stuck on TV’s or tablet. Wonderful way of spending time learning new words and stories”
