St Francis Gardens was a regeneration project undertaken by Respond Housing Association in partnership with Cork City Council. Formerly known as the Glen flats, the redevelopment of the estate was designed by Respond Housing Association and completed in Murnane O’ Shea Ltd in 2006. The project was kindly funded by the Department of the Environment, Community and Local Government. St Francis Gardens is a 5-storey project that contains 51 homes, a day centre for older persons and a 12-bed group home that is managed by the Cope Foundation. There are a range of community services and facilities available to residents including gardening programmes, computer classes etc. For older residents there are a variety of HSE services including physiotherapy, dietetics, podiatry and counselling.
