Oakley Wood volunteers organised a fantastic Easter event early April for all residents and families living on the estate. Children parents and grandparents were treated to an afternoon of Easter arts and crafts and fun games. The resident volunteers baked many treats and cakes for a well supported cake sale in which they raised almost €100.
Residents enjoyed guessing the weight of a homemade cake and one happy boy went going home with the winning cake (pictured). The volunteers have committed the monies raised for future events for children and families on Oakley Wood estate over the summer months.
Oakley Wood is a new estate and already a very good example of Respond’s ambition to deliver not just housing but to develop integrated and supported communities where residents take a leading role in the development and delivery of events for themselves and their neighbours with the support of resident support and family support staff.
