Respond residents in Meadowbrook Court, Loughrea recently completed an 8 week gardening course and despite participants having little prior experience in the area of growing vegetables there are obviously a number of “budding” gardeners.
Interest in the area of vegetable gardening in our “lived in environment” is becoming very popular and the gardening bug appears to have well and truly bit as residents are now sharing tips and helping each other out.
This course was supported by Galway Co Co (Community Support Scheme) and Respond.
A proposal has been put forward to the Respond Resident Support Worker to run another course around environmental sustainability. This suggestion was discussed with the Gardening Group, Meadowbrook Court residents and the adjoining St Lawrence Fields estate.
It is hoped that if successful under Galway Co Co.’s Local Agenda 21 Scheme that this follow on project will serve to provide a follow on in the winter months.
