To celebrate European Neighbours’ Day Respond Housing Association organised a Dèise Blaa Lunch time at their head offices in Airmount, Dominick Place Waterford on Friday 31st May 2013 for staff and residents from the city including; Airmount, Luke Court, Aisling Court, Francis Court, Spring Gardens and Oak Crescent Tramore, Waterford.
This year marked the 13th anniversary of Neighbours’ Day, since it was launched in Paris in 2000 and was celebrated by several million people in Europe. Neighbours’ Day was also supported by more than 1,400 partners (city councils, housing organisations and local associations) in more than 30 countries!. 2013 European Neighbours Day gathered 12 million people across the region, who wish to highlight the necessity to build communities in order to beat isolation.
According to Chief Operations Officer, Ned Brennan;
“Neighbourliness is at the core of the Respond mission in developing and supporting communities and we are delighted that so many neighbour’s participated in our very successful event last Friday to mark European Neighbours Day”
Lunch was served at Respond’s new community allotments located at Airmount, Dominick Place, Waterford. The weather did not dampen the mood of attendees as all music, teas, coffees, soft-drinks and blaa connoisseur’s tastes were catered for on the day.
