This particular strand, which is run in partnership with The Wheel, supports collaborative research projects between postdoctoral or senior researchers and community or voluntary groups. Philip O’ Reilly, National Co-ordinator of Services for Older People, Respond was in Dublin last week for the official announcement and photo call with the Minister for Education and Skills, Jan O’ Sullivan, TD.

According to Philip O’ Reilly:

“Respond is delighted to be working in partnership with the School of Applied Social Studies in UCC on this important piece of research which will focus on loneliness and social isolation among older people. We have developed an excellent working relationship with Dr. Cathal O’ Connell and UCC over the years and collaborative projects of this kind are of paramount importance from both research and networking perspectives”.
